Two pubs in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge face possible prosecution after serving alcohol to under-age drinkers, it emerged this week.
And, separately, two pubs in Burnham-On-Sea are being investigated by police in connection with breaches of door staff security laws.
Sgt Ian Kennett confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com that eight pubs were assessed when youngsters made test purchases over the last few days.
“Of the eight pubs and clubs that were tested, two failed – one in Highbridge and one in Burnham,” said Sgt Kennett.
It comes after Burnham police also conducted a new round of checks on door staff at pubs and clubs in Burnham-On-Sea – and found two people breaking the rules.
Sgt Kennett added: “The two breaches of the Private Security Act in Burnham are currently being investigated – these are in addition to the earlier breach at Brean in January.”
Police and Security Industry Authority staff made a check in January when one person was found to be in breach, as previously reported here by Burnham-On-Sea.com.
