The author of a new book focussing on the history of Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s pubs is on the hunt for photos of several local pubs.
Jane Mann is appealing for local people to send her their images of pubs from over the decades in Burnham-On-Sea, Highbridge and the surrounding area for her new book, which is due to be published this autumn.
“This will be my second book on local pubs, the first featured pubs in Bridgwater and was a success,” Jane told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“I’m researching pubs, coaching inns and hotels in and around Burnham and am finding they have wonderful histories and fascinating stories.”
“I have a great interest in local history and the Burnham area has a rich history – there have been at least 16 pubs in Highbridge alone over the years!”
She adds: “Compiling a book like this isn’t easy and it takes a lot of time to pull everything together so anyone who is happy to share any images they have with dates pubs in the area – whether open or closed – would be really appreciated.”
£1 from each of the £10 books sold will be donated to BARB Search and Rescue in Burnham-On-Sea, which operates two rescue hovercrafts and two inshore rescue boats.
