Burnham-On-Sea’s very own Princess Theatre Company takes to the stage tomorrow night (Friday) for their 9th full production in 2 years.
The theatre group, based at the Princess Theatre and Arts Centre, stemmed from a playwright course hosted at the Princess.
“We’d written these plays and we wanted to see them on the stage,” founder Kim Cook said. “What better way than to start our own company.”
Four of the original group went on to have their plays performed.
Ollie Hulme is the writer of the latest production, called Islands. It’s a story of political intrigue and he is the 9th writer to bring his work to the stage with the company.
“It’s been a great couple of years. We’ve seen so many plays make it to the stage and so many people have been involved,” fellow founder Lewis Coleman said.
“Not just with the writing, but directing, acting, back stage, set, costume, tech and marketing. It’s been a real team effort by a bunch of ordinary locals.”
Islands takes to the stage for one performance only at the Princess Theatre on Friday 17th June at 7.30pm. Call 01278 784464 for tickets (Standard £6/Concessions £4) or see the theatre website.
