Burnham-On-Sea has been named as one of the top property price growth hotspots of 2017 after house prices leapt by nearly 10 per cent.
The town is in fourth place in a list of UK towns and cities that have seen the biggest increases in prices during the past year.
According to research from property firm Rightmove, the average asking price for a property in Burnham is now £235,083, which is 9.9 per cent more than last year.
Sudbury in Suffolk, Sowery Bridge in West Yorkshire and Kendal in Cumbria, are the only locations which has seen greater price growth.
Miles Shipside, director of Rightmove, said: “Although prices have grown at a muted rate of 1.2 per cent nationally this year, there are a number of local markets where strong demand and short supply has led to pretty heady price rises, especially in areas where homes are relatively more affordable than some of their nearby cities.”
London was excluded from all of the findings in Rightmove’s report.
