Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Theatre has formally unveiled its new-look facilities this week following a £50,000 refurbishment.
Mayor Ken Smout was joined by town councillors and Princess volunteers on Thursday evening (November 8th) at the unveiling of the new Princess Arts Lounge, which includes a modern bar.
The work was funded by almost £20,000 from the Somerset Levels and Moors Action Group plus transitional funding from Sedgemoor District Council.
The Arts Lounge, right, includes a bar and a gallery of local art for sale. It operates as a cafe and box office during the daytime and serves as a bar during evening events.
The revamp also includes new wood flooring, lighting and decorations, plus a new commercial-standard kitchen.
Princess Chairman Peter Burridge-Clayton told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This is a great boost for The Princess – we’re delighted with the new-look facilities.”
“Further changes are also underway with new exterior signs, internal improvements to cater for wedding ceremonies and new sound and lighting kit in the theatre.”
Burnham and Highbridge Town Council took over the ownership of The Princess from the district council in April 2011.
