A new manager has taken over the helm at Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Theatre this week.
Sam Nicol has many years of experience in local and national theatre and says she is excited to be taking on the role of running Burnham’s theatre following the departure of the previous manager in the autumn.
Sam is a well-known face locally, having been a member of Burnham Pantomime Society, the West Huntspill Players and Brean’s Coastline Players – and she has also led Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Youth Theatre (BOSH) for the past two years.
She has also previously worked at the National Theatre, both on and off the stage, and is a qualified teacher.
“I am delighted to be taking on this exciting role here in Burnham and intend to further develop and grow the theatre,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“I hope to get the local community more involved with The Princess, holding events that bring everyone together. I’d like to see a wider range of events here, such as weddings, school events and more community activities.”
“There is so much that this great theatre can be used for, including conferences, business meetings and training sessions – the possibilities are endless.”
Princess Theatre Chairman Peter Burridge-Clayton said he is delighted with the appointment of Sam.
He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It is really good to have a local person at The Princess – Sam is very positive about moving the theatre forward and has some excellent ideas.”
“We will be visiting and working with a number of theatres throughout the South West in the coming year to ensure we are managing our theatre as well as we possibly can and to also bring quality performances and artists to the Princess.”
