Burnham’s Mayor and Mayoress join 60 supporters at Princess event

-

Burnham’s Mayor and Mayoress were among 60 people who attended a social evening organised by the town’s ‘Friends of The Princess Hall’ on Saturday (17th April).

The event, held at the Princess, gave residents a chance to hear more about the group’s strategy to run the hall and also pledge their support.

A short film was shown, outlining some of the successful events that have been held there in recent years.

The group’s chairman, John Holmes, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were very pleased with the turnout and attracted over a dozen new members on the night.”

“We hope that people went away knowing a lot more about our plans to run the Princess as a theatre and community facility.”

Tessa Munt, Burnham’s Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate, took a break from her election campaign to attend and she told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The Princess is a marvellous community facility for many groups and different activities. It would be ludicrious for it to be let go.”

In February, Burnham-On-Sea.com was first to report here that four bidders are in the frame to take over the management of the hall.
