A live rock music concert due to be held at The Princess in Burnham-On-Sea this coming Saturday (May 16th) has been cancelled due to technical problems.
Internationally-known guitarist Larry Miller and his band, which includes support from local musician Cliff Moore (pictured), were due to perform.
However, the organisers said on Wednesday (May 114th) that the hall’s electrical system, which was installed in 1994, is inadequate to cope with the planned concert.
While Sedgemoor District Council, the owners of the hall, are working to get the system upgraded, the organisers have pulled the plug on the event because the work may not be carried out on time.
A spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was with enormous regret that we felt we had to cancel. As the performers in this case were coming from a considerable distance away from Burnham especially for this event, we felt it was unfair to expect them to commit at 24 hours notice to a concert that might not take place.”
“It is vitally important to us that the events at the Princess are special and a cut above the usual offerings in the town. Without the right equipment, we could not do this.”

Providing that the system is successfully upgraded over the next few days, the first large-scale live music event will now be held on Saturday June 6th featuring Chris Jagger, plus groups Who’s A’feard and Stevie.
