Pride-on-Sea group holds celebration of Brianna Ghey’s life in Highbridge’s Apex Park

-

Burnham and Highbridge’s Pride-on-Sea group has held a celebration of Brianna Ghey’s life at Highbridge’s Apex Park to show their solidarity after this week’s murder verdict.

The 16-year-old, who was transgender, was stabbed 28 times in a brutal attack in a park in Cheshire. Girl X and boy Y, who cannot be named due to their age, were convicted of the murder at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for Pride-on-Sea, which organised the town’s first Burnham and Highbridge Pride event earlier this year, says: “We held a celebration of Brianna’s life, with duck feeding at Apex Park. It was well attended by around 15 people and much love was shared around with great fun being had when feeding the ducks.”

“Pride-on-Sea hopes to continue her legacy into the future, and all ideas are welcome. We would like to take this time to thank everyone who came to this gathering and to all our events this year.”

“We wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. 2024 will be our second Pride event so watch out for an announcement soon about the date and future events.”
