Hundreds of homes in Burnham-On-Sea were without electricity on Monday (September 23rd) after workmen accidentally cut a main power line into the town.
Western Power Distribution confirmed that 693 households were without electricity following the interruption to supplies shortly after 10.15am.
While the majority of homes were re-connected within a minute, 38 were left without power near the BASC ground for over two hours.
Western Power spokeswoman Leanne White told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The outage was caused by a third-party accidentally damaging an underground cable near Edithmead.”
“Customers were moved to alternative supplies where possible but some were without power for two hours,” she added. The firm apologised for the inconvenience caused.
