Thousands of homes across the Burnham-On-Sea area were without power on Tuesday evening, June 22nd, following a brief power cut.
Western Power Distribution told Burnham-On-Sea.com that a total of 9,800 homes in Burnham, Highbridge and Berrow suffered an outage at 5.26pm following a high voltage fault.
A spokesman for Western Power Distribution told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Customers in the Burnham area experienced a short inturruption of power lasting between ten to fifteen seconds this evening.”
“The problem was caused by a fault with our 33,000 volt system. We automatically switched supplies to a back-up system to restore power.”
It was the latest in a series of power cuts in the Burnham area in recent months.
