Thousands of homes in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge were briefly left without electricity on Saturday evening (November 9th) after a power cut hit the town.
Western Power Distribution confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com that 10,618 households were without electricity following the interruption to supplies at 5pm.
Homes were re-connected within a matter of seconds and Western Power’s spokesman Andrew Causely said: “The outage was caused by a trip in our 33,000 volt network. A sub-station switched the town’s supply over to a back-up.”
He apologised for any inconvenience and said an investigation is underway into the cause.
