More than 10,000 homes across Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge were briefly plunged into the dark this evening (Sunday, March 4th) following a widespread power cut.
The cut lasted just 10 seconds, but affected homes across the Burnham area following a high-voltage fault.
A Western Power Distribution spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A total of 10,295 homes were without power for 10 seconds at 7.13pm after a 33,000 volt fault in our network.”
“All homes were reconnected as quickly as possible by switching over to our back-up supply.”
He added that investigations into the fault had only just begun and a cause was not immediately known.
