-

The humble spud will be the focus of a special event near Burnham-On-Sea this Saturday (February 20th).

West Huntspill’s Balliol Hall in Church Road will be hosting a Potato Day when dozens of varities will go on display and growing advice will be available to gardeners.

“There will be at least 60 varieties of seed potato on show, all for sale by the single tuber,” said a spokesman.

“Onion sets, shallots, garlic and heritage seeds, plus fruit trees, soft fruit and kitchen garden plants will also be on sale.”

“There will be a complete array of products to meet you fruit and veg growing needs for the new year to help you kick start your gardening season.”

The event will be held from 10am-2pm and admission will be free.
