Vintage Burnham-On-Sea beach poster up for auction in London
A vintage poster showing a traditional Burnham-On-Sea beach scene from a bygone age is to be auctioned in London this autumn.
The item, which has a guide price of between £500 and £700, is due to go on sale at an auction of travel and vintage posters.
It shows a family enjoying Burnham’s beach with the paddling pool, low ligthouse and donkeys in the background.
Text at the bottom of the poster shows how it was used to promote the town as a holiday resort for ‘leisure and pleasure’.
The poster also refers to the Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea Railway Station, as it was then known.
The 40 x 25in poster is a full colour offset lithograph printed by Jordison & Co Ltd of London in the 1960s.
It will go on sale at Christies in South Kensington, London on September 14th.
