Postal strike could effect postal votes for Highbridge by-election

-

Sedgemoor District Council has issued advice to postal voters in Highbridge ahead of Thursday’s by-election.

“Due to today’s unscheduled postal strike Sedgemoor District Council is encouraging anyone with an unreturned postal vote in relation to tomorrow’s Highbridge Parish Ward by-election to return their forms direct to a polling station,” said a council spokeswoman.

“Unfortunately Sedgemoor District Council are unaware if today’s unplanned strike will last more than one day.”

Polling stations, open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday, are at Morland Hall, Pearce Drive, Highbridge and at Highbridge Community Hall in Market Street.

The Town Council by-election has been called after the previous councillor for Highbridge stood down for personal reasons.
