The main post box at the junction of Adam Street and the High Street was struck by a vehicle.
Fears that the heavy metal structure could topple over have led to it being coned off and temporarily withdrawn from service.
Council workers coned off the box and Royal Mail sealed it up, as pictured here.
“Several of the paving stones around the structure have been damaged and there were concerns that people could trip up or even push it over,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
