Injured porpoise helped back into sea after getting beached at Brean

-

An injured porpoise was helped back into the sea after being washed up on Brean beach on Sunday evening (May 7th).

A kite surfer and a member of the public guided the mammal back out into deep water after it was spotted with an injury on its side.

Burnham-On-Sea’s BARB Search & Rescue – which has several trained marine mammal medics among its crew – was called to help by Brean’s beach warden.

The crew spoke with the members of the public before conducting a shoreline search to see if the mammal was still in difficulty, and avoid any other members of the public potentially putting themselves at risk to reach it, but nothing was found.
