Popular vicar of Highbridge St John’s Church leaves town to take on new role

-

Parishioners at Highbridge St John’s Church have bid farewell to their popular long-serving vicar, Rev Prebendary Sharon Crossman, this week.

After nine years serving St John’s Church, Churchfield School, and the people of Highbridge and surrounding villages, she has moved away to take on a new role.

She told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I have left Highbridge to take on a new role as Diocesan Vocations Co-ordinator in the diocese of Salisbury.”

“It is a role to encourage people to think about a whole variety of roles within the church and community, some paid, most volunteering.”

She added: “I’m sad to leave Highbridge and the many friends I have made, but as a minister we are sometimes called into new roles.”

“There will be a vacancy at St John’s, but the team will work well together until a new vicar is found over the coming months.”

Members of the congregation flocked to a special service this week to bid Sharon farewell, where a unique cake was also cut, as pictured above.
