Poppy Appeal volunteers sought by Burnham’s Royal British Legion

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Royal British Legion have this week issued a urgent appeal for more Poppy Appeal collectors to come forward.

The Royal British Legion has issued an appeal for volunteers to help in Burnham and Highbridge during this autumn’s annual collections.

It says it is “extremely short” of helpers in the area and is keen for residents to come forward and help.

Volunteer Sue Meads told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Unless we can recruit a group of volunteers the Poppy Appeal is unlikely to go ahead in the Burnham, Highbridge, Berrow and Brean area this year, which would be a huge shame.”

Sue Potepa, Poppy Appeal County Fundraiser, added: “If you have two hours or two weeks to help in Burnham-On-Sea or Highbridge, we would ask invite you to get in touch.”

“The Poppy Appeal is the Royal British Legion’s principal way of raising money during the year and we need volunteers of all ages to do a variety of roles such as distributing poppies and collecting on streets, in shops and in workplaces.”

If you would like to get involved and can give your time please telephone Sue on 01278 792021 or by email at meadssue@yahoo.co.uk.
