Sedgemoor District Council’s Dog Wardens will this week be asking dog owners in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge to take more care in cleaning up after their pets.
The council is marking National Poop Scoop Week from June 11th-17th by handing out leaflets and dog waste bags to encourage dog owners to be responsible and pick up after their animals.
The council’s wardens will be handing out information and free bags at Highbridge’s Apex Park and at other trouble spots across the district.
National Poop Scoop Week has also been backed by dog owners, with Clarissa Baldwin from the Dogs Trust saying: “Dog fouling is an issue that we are determined to tackle and we hope Poop Scoop Week will reinforce the importance of picking up dog poo.”
“We want people to be able to enjoy clean public areas all year round and if everyone remembers the importance of picking after their dog we can make a big difference.”
