A major £50,000 project to replace every tile in Burnham-On-Sea’s swimming pool is nearing completion this week.
The refurbishment of Burnham Swim and Sports Academy’s pool in Berrow Road started last December and is on track to be completed later this month despite several setbacks.
“The work is going well and, barring any last-minute surprises, we’re on track to re-start our swim classes and school sessions on January 25th,” the Academy’s Mark Cox-Conklin told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week.
The refurbishment suffered a set back when the scale of the work was larger than expected.
The repairs come after a wall of the pool partially collapsed in December 2008 and a large number of tiles came off the side last year.
Burnham-On-Sea.com was also first to report in December that the sports academy’s £330,000 extension had been given the go-ahead by district council planners.
