Burnham-On-Sea pool to close for six weeks during repair work

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s swimming pool is to close for six weeks later this month when thousands of pounds of repairs to the base of the pool are carried out.

Burnham Swim and Sports Academy’s pool in Berrow Road will close at 6pm on December 12th and not re-open until 6am on January 25th.

The closure will allow workers to drain the pool and replace dozens of lose tiles.

It follows a wall at the pool partially collapsing last December when a large number of tiles came off the side.

A temporary solution has been in place ever since, but the pool’s owners, Mark and Sara Cox-Conklin, want to put a permanent solution in place.

“We expect to find out quite quickly the scale of the work involved when the pool is drained and the tiles are checked,” co-owner Mark Cox-Conklin told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week.

“We have decided to shut the pool for the whole of the Christmas period, which is normally a relatively quiet period.”

He added that the popular Starbucks cafe and shop at the Swim and Sports Academy will continue to be open throughout the work.
