Police in Burnham-On-Sea have thanked the community for their intelligence after two men were this week convicted of being involved in drug dealing and use.
Sgt Ian Kennett (pictured) thanked the community on Friday (July 11th) for their help in securing the convictions.
Colin Robinson, 46, from Highbridge, was convicted at Taunton Crown Court on Monday (July 7th) of two counts of possession of a Class C drug with intent to supply.
He received a nine month prison sentence and a one month sentence, which were suspended for a year, a 12 month supervision order and ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work. Drugs and drug paraphernalia recovered were also destroyed.
It comes after Graham Payne, 36, from Burnham, was convicted on June 24th for three counts of possessing cannabis and amphetamine. He was sentenced to a 12 months community order and ordered to carry out 40 hours unpaid work, while drugs and equipment were also destroyed.
Sgt Ian Kennett told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “These convictions follow drug warrants that were carried out as a direct result of community intelligence obtained by police and Police Community Support Officers from the Burnham coastal SSN team.”
“It is vital that members of the community help the police deal with problems and issues by being our eyes and ears.”
“Convictions like this shows what can be done when the community works with police to make our towns and villages safer.”
