Police in Burnham step up efforts to halt speeding seafront motorists

-

Police stepped up their crackdown against anti-social driving along Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront on Sunday (October 12th) as the campaign for safety improvements continued.

Burnham Police held a special event on the Esplanade to get the views of local residents about how to tackle speeding and anti-social driving.

PC Pete Wills and PCSO Pearl Hine also used a speed camera, as pictured, to monitor passing traffic throughout the day.

“We’ve gone house to house speaking to residents about the safety measures they would like to see in place to tackle speeding,” said PC Wills.

“We have had very mixed views – with some wanting changes and others saying it should be left as it is.”

“Once we have gathered the feedback, it will go to the town council and then on to the County Council for them to consider.”
