Body found on Wales beach by Police investigating mystery of Berrow yacht

The body of a man found on a South Wales beach may be that of a missing sailor whose yacht was found washed up on Berrow beach last month.

Berrow Beach Yacht owner David MooreHis yacht, called The Egoist, had been seen leaving Watchet Marina on the afternoon of Saturday June 1st before it was washed up at Berrow two days later.

This week, a Police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The body of a man was found by South Wales Police at about 1.45pm on Sunday 16th June near to Ogmore-by-Sea.”

“Enquiries are continuing to identify the dead man. The family of missing yachtsman David Moore have been informed. Formal identification still has to be carried out.”

Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards and RNLI lifeboats were initially called out to investigate the discovery of the yacht washed up on the tideline opposite Berrow Church.

They reported no sign of life on board and the vessel was later towed to Burnham Sailing Club.
