Burnham-On-Sea’s two top policemen are retiring this week after several decades in their jobs.
Inspector Roger Tolley and Sgt Ian Kennett have both bid a farewell to colleagues at Burnham Police Station this week.
Ian said: “After 30 years of police service, the last 14 as a Sergeant at Burnham, I am retiring as a police officer.”
“It has been a pleasure for me and I leave with mixed feelings. I would like to thank everyone who has given me support over the years. This has helped make Burnham a safer place.”
Roger has been in the Avon and Somerset Constabulary for 33 years, starting as a PC in Bristol and more recently working in Bridgwater, Taunton and Burnham.
He has previously been awarded both the Constabulary’s Long Service and the Queen’s Police Jubilee Award and said he would miss colleagues within the force.
A police spokeswoman told Burnham-On-Sea.com that an announcement is due soon on how the roles will be filled at Burnham Police Station.
