Police say the body of a man was recovered from Burnham-On-Sea beach on Sunday morning (June 9th).
Police and local emergency services were called to the beach near the low lighthouse.
Police spokesman Sam Malone told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were called shortly after 7am after a man’s body was found on a beach off The Esplanade, Burnham-On-Sea.”
“The death is being treated as unexplained but it is not currently believed to be suspicious.”
He added: “Enquiries to confirm the man’s identity are ongoing.”
The beach was temporarily cordoned off around the lighthouse and later re-opened mid-morning. Police, ambulance, Burnham Coastguards and BARB crews were called to the scene.
