Burnham police step up patrols to make it a peaceful festive period

-

Police in Burnham and Highbridge are cracking down on crime in the run-up to Christmas.

There will be increased high visibility foot patrols by PCSOs and police officers, in addition to plain clothes patrols.

Sergeant Ian Kennett told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Although the risk of being a victim of crime in Burnham and Highbridge is low, I am committed to making it a safer area and would warn offenders that they will be targeted by my team.”

“We will also be visiting licensed premises and working with CCTV staff and radio holders in the town to reduce the risk of violent crime so that the community can enjoy the Christmas period without fear of becoming a victim of crime.”

Officers will also be targeting shoplifting, drug-related crime and the public PACT priorities of illegal parking. The public are asked to park considerately and not to leave valuables on view.
