Highbridge police to tackle drugs crime and arcade concerns

-

Tackling drug-related crime and concerns about a proposed new amusement arcade have this week been voted by Highbridge’s residents as the top two issues for police to tackle.

During Highbridge’s quarterly Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meeting on Thursday evening (January 20th), residents had their say about policing in the town.

They decided that drug enforcement and fears about a proposed new gaming arcade in Market Street creating anti-social behaviour should be the beat team’s top issues over the coming quarter.

Sgt Ian Kennett told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We will be taking notice of the community’s concerns regarding the arcade and would not want to see any increase in anti-social behaviour in Market Street. Our ongoing work to crackdown on drug dealing will also continue.”

Over 20 residents attended Thursday’s meeting. Other concerns expressed included violent crime, littering, dog fouling, careless driving, burglaries and dangerous cycling.
