These were the scenes in the centre of Highbridge on Saturday afternoon (January 19th) when police officers armed with riot shields dealt with a serious incident in a flat.
Six teams of officers rushed to Market Street at 3.05pm amid reports that a white male armed with a crow bar had entered a flat near to Smarts Newsagents.
Officers from an armed response unit were seen entering the building equipped with riot shields – as pictured here.
An eyewitness at the scene told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Some time later, another police officer came out of the property with an object – possibly a crow bar – in an evidence bag.”
“Eventually a man was removed from the property in handcuffs at 4.15pm and he was taken away by police.”
