Police have this week warned motorists in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge to step up their security after four break-ins during the past 24 hours.
Burnham Police are investigating a spate of thefts and break-ins in Highbridge – and they have urged motorists to ensure valuables are not left on show in vehicles to potential thieves.
The first incident took place in Tregelles Close, Highbridge and was reported to police on Thursday morning (December 29th). A locked van was broken into and electronic equipment and tools were stolen from inside.
Separately, the door of a parked car in Morland Road was forced in an attempt to gain entry. A third incident saw the window of a further parked car smashed and items taken from inside.
And in a fourth incident in Daunton Close, Highbridge a car window was smashed but nothing is believed to have been taken.
Inspector Roger Tolley of Burnham Police told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Thursday (December 29th): “We are investigating a spate of acts of criminal damage, thefts and vehicle tampering which have occurred over the past 24 hours.”
“We would urge motorists not to leave valuables in their vehicle on display to would-be thieves. Also, we would ask that any residents who see anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles should call the police immediately.”
