A Burnham-On-Sea policeman has been nominated to become Avon and Somerset Constabulary’s Special Constable of the Year.
Special Constable Ian Phillips has been put forward by residents as part of the annual Community Policing Awards, which seek to shine the spotlight on the best police on the beat.
The awards invite people to nominate police officers, staff and volunteers who they feel have gone the extra mile to reduce crime and improve the quality of life.
After careful deliberation, reviewing 672 public nominations, including an impressive 345 for Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), Ian is among the 36 police to make the regional finals.
Ian will now have to wait until Thursday, March 8th to find out who the overall winners of each category are during a special awards ceremony to be held in Congresbury.
