Police issue appeal after mean thieves steal disabled man’s car at Brean

-

Police have appealed for help in tracing a car belonging to a disabled man and his wife which was stolen while they were on holiday in Brean earlier this week.

George and Jenny Nunn’s black Vauxhall Astra estate has the registration number VA57 NNY and is similar to the one pictured here.

It was taken from outside their caravan in Brean between 11pm on Sunday 8th June and 8.30am on Monday 9th June.

The caravan was broken into and Mrs Nunn’s handbag, containing the keys, stolen while they were in bed.

Mr Nunn, 42, is paralysed from the chest downwards after he was involved in an motorcycle accident which happened two years to the day that the car was stolen.

Mrs Nunn, aged 48, from Walshes estate, Stourport, said: “The car had hand controls which enabled my husband to drive it and gave him independence.”

“Motability have sorted out a car for us until 24th June but it could take four months to get a replacement car if ours does not turn up and we’re not sure what will happen in the meantime.”

“We’ve had a terrible couple of years and we hope the thief’s conscience may be pricked by the fact that it is an adapted car.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Jan Shore at Stourport Police Station on 08457 444888 or Avon and Somerset Police on 0845 456 7000, or alternatively ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
