Four car collision causes commuter chaos in Burnham-On-Sea
A four-car collision closed a major Burnham-On-Sea Road, leaving commuters with long traffic delays on Monday morning (July 24th).
Police, fire crews and paramedics rushed to Burnham Road after a car crashed into three others at 8.21am, but incredibly no-one was seriously injured. One driver was taken to hospital with what police called “minor injuries.”
The incident involved a blue Peugeot 307, a Vauxhall Oasis, Peugeot 306 and a Citreon Xantia. A police car was also slightly damaged during the accident.
One nearby resident, Erica Kaerlstedt, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There was a massive bang and then we heard the sound of shattering glass. It gave us quite a shock.”
Another resident, Ian Marsh, added: “There was a huge smash and then we looked outside to see this… incredible.”
The closure of Burnham Road led to long delays for motorists in the area – and Love Lane was far busier than normal as a result.
Another eyewitness, who asked not to be named, claimed the Peugeot 307 had crashed into one of the vehicles and then ‘bounced’ off into the other vehicles.
