A Highbridge man who mugged an 85-year-old woman, leaving her too scared to leave her own home, has been given a three year prison sentence.
Taunton Crown Court heard this week how Mark Parsons, 41, of Apex Drive, broke the lady’s wrist when he snatched her handbag as she was walking with an elderly friend along Burnham-On-Sea’s High Street in January.
The pensioner stumbled onto the pavement – and the incident was spotted by a witness who recognised the man as he fled the scene.
Prosecutor John Burgess told the court that the woman had lost her confidence after the attack and “had the stuffing knocked out of her.” She was too afraid to leave her own home.
