A talented Highbridge teenager has reached the finals of a nationwide poetry competition – and needs your help to win.
Shannon House, 16, is one of just 12 young writers from more than 32,000 entrants who have reached the finals of the 2013 Young Writers Poetry Games.
The prestigious competition aims to encourage young people across the country to engage in creative writing.
Shannon, a sixth form pupil at King Alfred School, entered her poem called ‘The Journey To The Underworld’ with an online video which has impressed the judges so much that she reached the finals.
To win the overall top prize, she needs Burnham-On-Sea.com readers to vote for her before the deadline of 17th January 2014. Readers can vote for her by clicking here.
Christine Alsford, her grandmother, said: “I am very proud of my talented granddaughter. Her poem can be seen on the Young Writers website under secondary school competitions, complete with a slide show to illustrate it, and I would encourage readers to vote for her.”
The winning young writer – who will receive an iPad – will be announced on Monday 20th, January 2014.
