The West Huntspill Players are ready to bring the 1950s comedy ‘The Titfield Thunderbolt’ to the stage this month.
The award-winning group is performing the play at the Balliol Hall from Wednesday October 26th – Saturday October 29th with performances at 7.45pm each night.
Set in 1952, the play revolves around the branch line from Titfield to Mallingford being about to close – much to the disappointment of Lady Edna and Rev Weech.
Can they manage to save the much-loved service with the help of villagers or will the rogue Vernon Crump manage to sabotage their plans with his ghastly omnibus service?
“The Players are really stretching themselves with this play – some action will take place in, around, and among the audience – with a train and bus on stage,” said a spokesman.
The cast includes Janet Holderness, Matthew Taylor, Larry Bennett, Alistair Murray, Phil Crossland, Greg Fear, June Jenkins, Alan Jarvis, Amber McHale, Peter Gilraine and Clare Virgo.
Tickets – costing £7 and £4 for concessions – are available from Mary Parish on 01278 785651.
