A Burnham-On-Sea mother hopes to open a new soft children’s play centre in Highbridge.
Debbie Beckett, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week about her plans to open CrazyDayz Active Play Centre in the town due to a lack of facilities in the area.
“There has been a play centre at Brean for several years but there is currently nowhere in Burnham-On-Sea or Highbridge and many parents have told me that there is nowhere local they can take their children,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“Opening a new play centre is therefore something I’ve been considering for some time, but I haven’t had the time or money or time to to take it forward until now.”
Debbie has set her sights on a large unit in Highbridge’s Brue Way to open the centre, and is currently in discussions with the owner.
“If we get the go-ahead in January as hoped, the centre will have climbing walls, a slide, tunnels, soft play building blocks and will have have a sensory area which will have bubble tanks, lights, and textures to help children with special needs.”
It will also include an area for under five year-olds and its own cafe that will provide healthy meals.
Debbie intends to employ five staff, to cover during holidays and term times, as well as a chef to work in the cafe.
She added: “I have been getting so such great feedback on the idea from parents in Burnham and Highbridge who all tell me they would love the centre to open.”
She added that the whole project will cost around £70,000 and could be open during April or May.
