The standard of playing fields across the Burnham-On-Sea area has this week been praised during a ceremony to recognise the best play facilities in Somerset.
Members of the Somerset County Playing Fields Association named the county’s top playing fields during their AGM when a series of awards was announced.
Dozens of representatives from parish councils across Somerset attended Thursday’s event, which was held in Woolavington.
The awards were presented by the Chairman of the Association, Councillor Dave Durdan, who is also Taunton’s Mayor this year.
Mike Schollar of Mark Parish Council, pictured above, received the June Wood Cup for best Play Area.
“Mark Parish Council retained the trophy they won last year despite fierce competition from a number of excellent entries across the region. The judges praised the play area for its overall quality,” said a spokesman.
