Mean thieves steal Royal plaques from Jubilee wall at Apex Park

-

Mean thieves have stolen two metal plaques at Highbridge’s Apex Park that were installed two years ago to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Burnham Rotary Club oversaw the construction of the commemorative wall in 2012 next to the main car park, featured here.

However, in recent months two of the metal plaques have been removed, as pictured above. One bears the Queen’s emblem.

Derek Chivers from the Friends of Apex Park told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It is very disappointing that this has happened. We’re not sure exactly when they were removed, but can only assume it was for their scrap metal value.”

Burnham Rotary Club said it is considering replacing them.
