A pirate-themed family fun day, held on Burnham-On-Sea beach on Sunday (August 12th), has been hailed a success by organisers after attracting hundreds of youngsters.
The free family event was held over the course of five hours on the sands next to The Pavilion, where entertainment included a fancy dress competition, pirate-themed games, fun workshops, face painting, giant bubble making and the Mudlarks community choir.
“We had a great day with a good turnout and plenty of support from local people. It went so well that I’d like to make this an annual event,” one of the organisers, Ian Jefferies, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Among the visitors taking part in the day were MP Tessa Munt, who tried her hand at giant bubble making, and Burnham County Councillor Peter Burridge-Clayton, pictured above, who came dressed for the part.
