Residents in part of Burnham-On-Sea were bemused to find their post boxes had turned pink this week!
Boxes in Rectory Road and Berrow Road changed from their traditional red to the new colour instead, as pictured here.
But Royal Mail has reassured residents that it is only a temporary change as part of a refurbishment programme.
A spokesperson said: “Many postboxes are undergoing a refurbishment programme, which consists of sandblasting the box to remove the old paint, then applying a coat of specialist primer — which is pink.”
“When the primer is dry, the box is finished in a coat of gloss Royal Mail red paint.”
