Burnham wind farm proposals ‘to be submitted to planners this month’

-

Controversial proposals to build a new wind farm on the outskirts of Burnham-On-Sea are set to gather speed this month when a formal planning application for the scheme is submitted.

Energy firm Broadview wants to build four 130-metre tall wind turbines, which would be as tall as Brent Knoll, on land at Pilrow Farm south of Rooksbridge.

The contentious plans have attracted strong opposition from local residents and the campaign group set up fight the scheme called No Pilrow.

Broadview spokeswoman Lisa Ross told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week that the firm is putting the finishing touches to its planning application, which will be submitted to Sedgemoor District Council over the next few weeks.

She confirmed: “We are currently still compiling the planning application documents for submission. It is important that the documents are comprehensive and robust and for that reason we are taking our time and ensuring that everything is correct.”

“We anticipate being in a position to submit a planning application by late April.”
