Broadview Energy, the developer behind controversial plans for the proposed Pilrow wind farm near Burnham-On-Sea, hosted two public exhibitions this week to show residents its plans which, it says, will be formally lodged with Sedgemoor District Council “within weeks”.
Residents visiting Broadview’s exhibitions on Monday (February 20th) were able to see new images of how the four proposed 130 metre tall wind turbines would look – see photos at the bottom of this page – and meet some of the independent expert consultants who have been involved in both the project design process and environmental assessments.
The exhibitions, held in Mark and East Brent, were hailed a “success” by Broadview even though just 45 residents attended.
Tom Cosgrove, the Project Manager for the proposed Pilrow wind farm, pictured above, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The residents who attended the event found the information useful and we received positive feedback from a number of them. People were really interested in finding out about the project design process and why the wind farm has been reduced in size.”
He confirmed: “Broadview intends to submit a planning application for the proposed 8-12MW wind farm to Sedgemoor District Council in the coming weeks.”
Many residents attending the firm’s exhibitions aired their concerns. Local resident Clive Ham told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I think these wind turbines are absolute monstrosities that will be terrible for the area. Broadview’s exhibition has actually illustrated that they are far worse than I first imagined.”
Meanwhile, the No Pilrow group is holding several meetings for residents opposed to the scheme this week. The first will be in Mark Village Hall on Wednesday 22nd February from 7pm – 9pm, then in the Wellington Arms, Rooksbridge on Thursday 23rd February from 7.30pm – 9.30pm, and in East Brent Village Hall on Monday 27th February from 7pm – 9pm.
