Tickets for a dinner and dance in East Brent to raise funds for the NoPilrow campaign have gone on sale this month.
The event will take place on November 18th at Brent House Restaurant and has been organised by members of NoPilrow, the campaign group opposed to the proposed wind farm development near Rooksbridge.
NoPilrow Vice Chairman David Maund told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The dinner and dance will help us to raise as much money as possible for our fighting fund.”
“Tickets for the evening will cost £22.50 per person and will include a carvery, dessert and coffee. Tables can be made up for eight or 12 people.”
During the evening there will be a disco, a raffle and an auction and the event will start at 7pm and finish at midnight.
Tickets will cost £22.50 per person. To book places for the evening, please call David on 07981 331 213 or email here or Louise Allen on 07921 220 343.
David added: “We are not against the idea of renewable energy but it is becoming clear that onshore wind farms are inefficient, costly and environmentally disastrous.”
“They place an unacceptable burden on every household through the subsidies to wind farm companies, which all of us have to pay for through our energy bills, including all those businesses engaged in the tourist industry.”
Broadview Energy intends to submit a planning application for its six 140 metre high turbines at the Pilrow wind farm site in early 2012 and, if approved, the site could be operational in the summer of 2013.
