Burnham-On-Sea fire crews rescue 20-stone pig from ditch

Burnham-On-Sea fire crews were called out on Wednesday evening (January 24th) to rescue a 20-stone pig stuck in a water-filled ditch.

Two fire appliances from Burnham-On-Sea and a Special Rescue Team from Bridgwater were sent to Brean Road, Lympsham, at 5.45pm.

“We were called out to reports of a large pig stuck in a water filled ditch,” said a spokesman.

“The 20 stone pig, called Felicity, was rescued by the Special Rescue Team who used level one water safety equipment, a triple extension ladder and lighting.”

“Felicity was uninjured and left in the care of her owner.”
