Brean Leisure Park’s annual pig and donkey race nights are being held every Tuesday night over the summer for local charities.
The fundraising race nights will take place in the park’s arena every Tuesday evening until September 2nd.
“Pig racing is hilarious fun for everyone, but the ones who enjoy it most are our pigs!” organiser Mike Barsby told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“They thrive on human contact and get very excited by the crowd, so come along, have a flutter and cheer on your chosen pig. The louder you cheer, the faster they run!”
“If you’ve ever found horse racing to be unpredictable then you should come and see how our donkeys behave! Children wear riding hats and are sent off with a ‘good luck’ at the start of their 100 yard race.”
“They need all the luck they can get because donkeys will only do what they want to do. We’ve seen them trot to within a yard of the finishing line and then turn round and start going back!”
The first race each Tuesday starts at 7pm and all the money raised is shared between local good causes and charities. Entry is £2.50 with prams and pushchairs free. For more information, call 01278 751595.
