Resident’s video shows scale of problems in Burnham car park

-

Burnham-On-Sea police are stepping up patrols along the town’s seafront after a resident shot this video footage showing the scale of anti-social driving.

The short video clip, which is embedded on this page, was filmed next to the Pier Street Car Park earlier this month on a mobile phone before being sent to Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, says: “Four vehicles were being driven at high speed around the Pier Street car park, spinning and skidding, for over 20 minutes. Sadly, this was not an isolated case. Residents frequently have to put up with this on several nights a week.”

Inspector Roger Tolley from Burnham Police told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We will not accept deliberate disregard for road safety on our roads and will be targeting dangerous driving, particularly in the area of The Esplanade.”

“Drivers have been warned and spoken with on a number of occasions and any incidents of reckless or inconsiderate driving will be dealt with by us.”

“Anti-social use of vehicles is again featuring amongst the community as a priority issue for the police and other partners to tackle. We will do this at every opportunity.”
