Town councillors’ concerns over hidden tourism information board

-

This tourist information display board in Burnham-On-Sea town centre could soon be moved by the Town Council amid concern that it is hidden behind a trader’s stall during the busy summer season.

The ‘You Are Here’ board is fixed to the wall of the 99p Store in Pier Street and was installed by the Town Council two years ago to help visitors find their way around Burnham.

However, members of the Town Council’s Town Improvements Committee voiced their concerns on Wednesday evening (March 23rd) that it is often hidden behind the shop’s outdoor market stall during the height of the summer season.

Councillors discussed the matter as a ‘confidential agenda item’ at Wednesday’s meeting and so the full discussion was not publicly aired. Acting Town Council Clerk Denise Emery said she “will be investigating the matter further in coming weeks.”
